#  Katharine Park Awarded 2016 Sarton Medal

Heartfelt congratulations to [Katharine Park](/people/katharine-park), the Samuel Zemurray, Jr. and Doris Zemurray Stone Radcliffe Research Professor of the History of Science, for being named the 2016 recipient of the [Sarton Medal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Sarton_Medal) for her lifetime’s achievement in the field of history of science. The prize was awarded on November 6 at this year’s [History of Science Society](http://hssonline.org) meeting in Atlanta. Park is the seventh woman to win the Medal since its inception in 1955. The award recognizes George Sarton, the founder of the journal [Isis](http://www.press.uchicago.edu/ucp/journals/journal/isis.html), and one of the founders of the modern phase in the history of science.
