Congratulations to HoS Assistant Professor Victor Seow for having been awarded the 29th Annual John Whitney Hall Book Prize. The prize is given for Victor's new book [*Carbon Technocracy: Energy Regimes in Modern East Asia*](/https:/press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/C/bo116278398.html) (University of Chicago Press) by the [Association for Asian Studies](https://www.asianstudies.org/) in recognition of the outstanding English language book published on Japan in 2021.
