Jagoda Mytych’s research on “In science we don’t trust. Denial discourses on climate change in America” concentrates on the climate change denial discourses as a social reaction to the alarming reports climate scientists provide and, concurrently, on the response that the academic community offers when confronting climate change deniers. The research plan includes three complementary elements. The descriptive component retraces the pivotal moments in the history of climate denial discourses in America. The analytical one studies how the denial narration present in the public sphere changes under new scientific findings. Finally, to enhance the analysis, Jagoda wants to conduct in-depth interviews with American climate scientists, science historians, and science journalists on their perception of climate denial. This qualitative part is the one she particularly plans to focus on during her visit.
