*Research Interests: History of computing; history of technology; history of the body; history of the senses, science &amp; technology studies.*

Juanis is a Ph.D. candidate whose work examines histories of artificial intelligence, subjectivity, and the senses. Their dissertation project excavates the emergence of a voice biometrics industry in the mid-to-late 20th century, exploring the role of data, computers, and machine learning in legitimizing earlier conceptions of the voice and its relation to identity and interiority. Juanis holds a double B.S. in Physics and STS from MIT. They have held research positions in AI ethics at Columbia University and IBM Research.
