Dr. Ramses Delafontaine's research focusses on the challenges forensic history poses to the epistemic virtues of historical scholarship. His main case study has been the involvement of historians in American tobacco litigation. Dr. Delafontaine will work with professor Allan Brandt to do additional research and finish two book manuscripts on these subjects based on his doctoral dissertation. His work on the history of the tobacco industry, tobacco litigation, and corruption of historical science by tobacco lawyers will immensely benefit from working with professor Brandt and other faculty at the Department.
