Friedman Scholar, Friedman Award for Scholars in Health
Doctoral Candidate, University of British Columbia
Raquel Baldwinson is a doctoral candidate in the Department of English at the University of British Columbia and a Liu Scholar at the Liu Institute for Global Studies. Through the support of the Killam Doctoral Scholarship and the Friedman Award for Scholars in Health, Baldwinson is on a Visiting Fellow appointment in the Department of History of Science at Harvard.
Baldwinson's dissertation, "Global Health Doubt: Belief and the Grammars of Global Health," focuses on the problem of doubt in global health— that is, on how, and to what effect, various publics lost faith in global health's key actors, institutions, methods and discourses. Baldwinson's scholarship combines historical analytics with rhetorical inquiry.
