Dr. Xiaojie Li's resarch is on the Ethical Issues Related to Biomedical Big Data. Her research program concentrates on the history of air pollution in China as it evolved in tandem with western-style industrialization that began in 1861. It is divided into five parts, the late Qing Dynasty (1861-1895), the northern warlord government (1895-1911), the Nanking National Government (1911-1949), the traditional Socialist government (1949-1978), and the Chinese Characteristic Socialist Government (1979-till present). More specifically, she will investigate the dynamic interactions of traditional Chinese theory towards nature, such as “fengshui” (geomantic omen，风水)， the government’s policy of industrialization and economic development, and the impact of western theories shaping people’s opinion toward air pollution.
