Xueying Song
Xueying Song is a Ph.D. candidate in Art Theory from Peking University. Her research focuses on picture theory, media study, critical theory, and the philosophy of pain.  She has published several papers in reputed Chinese journals (CSCI) on subjects like archival arts, human degeneration, alienation, and totalitarianism. Currently, she is working on the theory of technical images. Regarding the technical image as it becomes both the primary mediator of the world, and a catalyst for philosophical infrastructures, she intends to carry out a holistic media archaeology on technical image and its theories with a gesture towards theoretical development and philosophy. In the meantime, Xueying studies how such images intensify the upheaval caused by Picture Turn on individual cognitive mode, perception, subjectivity/self-awareness, and even the visage of power-knowledge in a future society moving towards technical images, where survival is the dominant way of life.
