Che Yeun is a historian of medicine and the human body. Her dissertation explores on the rituals of “personal care” in the United States throughout the 20th century. The everyday pursuit of bodily pleasure, comfort, and cleanliness is the focus of her work. In historicizing these intimate desires, her research foregrounds the intersecting discourses of the self, affect, consumer culture, modernity, and medical authority.
