Research Interests: History of the body; history of medicine; consumer culture; affect; gender & sexuality; history of the Self.
Che Yeun is a historian of consumer culture and the human body. Her dissertation explores the technologies of “personal care” in the United States throughout the 20th century. The everyday pursuit of bodily pleasure, comfort, and cleanliness is the focus of her work. In historicizing these intimate desires, her research foregrounds the intersecting discourses of the self, sensation, affect, consumption, and modernity.
