Elizabeth Karron

Research Interests: History of medicine; health and the environment; history of public health; history of biology

Elizabeth Karron (she/her) is a PhD student in the History of Science Department at Harvard University. She specializes in the modern history of medicine, health, and the environment. Her current research examines the historical development of contested knowledge and political action regarding mercury exposure in the United States and the world during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Elizabeth graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a BA in History of Science and Medicine. Her senior thesis on hepatitis B vaccination won Yale’s Manuelidis Prize in History of Medicine.

Prior to her PhD, Elizabeth worked for the Boston Consulting Group as a strategy consultant in their healthcare practice. She also completed an intensive year of Urdu language training in India, with a fellowship from the US Department of Education.
