Sara Press
Visiting Post-Doctoral Fellow
University of British Columbia
Dr. Sara Press' research interrogates specific instances of systemic racism and biases in medical practice and pedagogy from the early twentieth century to present, illuminating inequalities in North American society that remain significant obstacles to healthcare. Specifically, Dr. Press undertakes a cross-cultural investigation of the history and current state of Standardized Patient Programs (SPPs) in medical schools in Canada and the US to consider changes that medical educators can make to improve patient representation in ways that will impact future doctors’ encounters with diverse patient populations.
