Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging

The Department of the History of Science views diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as the foundation for excellent scholarship and as a central part of our growth as individuals and as a community. Our department is made of students, staff, faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting scholars who draw on a dynamic range of backgrounds to contribute to our common goals. The work and well-being of the department are strengthened by the diversity of our network, and we are actively seeking to welcome people of color, women, persons with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQIA, first generation, individuals from low income backgrounds, and those who are at the intersections of these identities, from across the spectrum of disciplines and methods to join us. Together, we strive to create an environment that demands equity both in and out of the classroom, values diversity in all its forms, promotes an inclusive culture, and establishes a profound sense of belonging for each member of our community.
